한국 서바스의 아들, 브라질로 가다(1)

아들을 마침내 브라질로 보냅니다.
상 빠울루의 고모집에도 있겠지만 브라질의 여러 가정을 다니게해볼 계획입니다.
우선, 브라질 서바스의 대표 Cesar Baron에게 도움을 청했더니 바로 답장이 오네요.
도와주신 엄 회장님과 브라질 교포 정경화(Alex)씨에게 감사드립니다.

Dear Mr. Bai Chongman
It is a pleasure to read your message and get to know that your son is coming to live for sometime in Brazil.
It is really a very deep experience and helps a lot young people to get a better understanding about the world and its cultural differences.
I myself owned an exchange student company in the 80s and I know well the good changes it produces on those who have this kind of opportunity.

I have got a nice phone call from Alex this morning and he added some more information about the trip your son is taking to Brazil and I can tell you that me and my wife will be very pleased to host Bai Jinho for a whole week in Curitiba.
Besides this I am forwarding your email and I will ask our regional coordinators to spread the information among our Brazilian Servas members in order to find more people to do the same and if fortunately we find someone to offer him a home stay we will then let you know about it.

Please let me suggest you to scan his Servas Letter of Introduction and send it to me so that I can attach it to the messages I send to our national members what may help with the job of finding a home for him to stay.

Another subject is related to the fact that he is only 16 years old.
People of this age needs a special permission to travel alone inside the country what normally requires someone responsible to sing it for him.
I believe that your sister might be able to do it, but you may want her to check what the bureaucratic procedure would be.
Maybe you should think about issuing a permission in Korean and then translate it into Portuguese through an "official translator" in your country what will facilitate things here.

I'll introduce myself and my family.
I'm a member of Korean Servas.
My name is Bai Chongman, and I'm a teacher in senior high school.
Now I'm teaching "general society" which include economics, law, political science, social welfare etc to high school students.
I'm 48 years old.

There are 4 members in my family.
We live in Busan, which is the 2nd largest city in Korea.
My wife is a housewife,44 years old.
My son, Bai Jinho is 16 years old.
My daughter, Sejin is 9 years old.
My son, Jinho, entered senior high school last March, but left his school last September.
Because he and I thought that he need to gain various experiences in his early life.

My sister' family live at Bom Retiro in Sao Paulo and I once lived there for 9 months (from Oct. 1998 to Jul 1999).
I love Brasil very much.

So, we have a plan which my son will stay in Brasil for 3months.
He'll depart from Incheon international airport in Korea on 31 Oct. 2004 by plane through Hongkong, Johannesburg(South Africa) and arrive at uarholos (Sao Paulo) airport on 1st Nov.
He'll stay my sister' home in Sao Paulo.
This is not the first time for going abroad for him.
Jinho traveled Japan 6 days with me last year.
But he can not speak English and other foreign languages very well.
He'll learn Portugues during his stay in Sao Paulo.

As a member of Servas, I ask for your help.
I and my son hope that my son can meet many Brasilian Friends, regardless of age and sex.
During his stay in Sao Paulo, he wants to stay Brasilian servas members' home.
As Brasil is a wonderful country, he would like to travel as many places in Brasil as he can.
For example, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Campinas, Brasilia, Iguassu Falls etc...
Can you introduce my son to Servas members of Brasil?

If there is someone who wants to be a home stay family, please contact to Mrs. Yang Jinyoung(Jinho's cousin) who speaks Portuguese well enough to communicate in Portuguese fluently and guide them how to handle the procedures between Koreans and Brasilian. Her E-mail is fox1977@hanmail.net

First he will learn Portugues for 3-4 weeks in Sao Paulo. After this language training, he want you to introduce Servas member who provide lodging and boarding for him. The days he will stay depends on the host's situation. Either a few days' stay or the longer stay will be okey. If any Brasilian member accept my son's home-stay from December(2004) or January(2005), send me E-mail please. I'm looking forward to receiving your answer.
